Brief:  Design five commercial office buildings to be rented to future clients that can be built upon demand. The façade should provide the client with the opportunity to define their office from the others within the same complex.

Design: In a preliminary urban plan, our client proposed five offices: Four offices of the same dimensions and one larger, positioned in a linear form within the plot and each separated by an individual communal garden. To create diversity within this initial plan and differentiate the individual buildings we proposed six offices of varying sizes within a looser lay out. This created a dynamic communal public space running between all offices integrating the complex as a whole and with the surrounding space. Three central lifts within this communal space connect the car park to the ground floor level, compelling everyday use of the space and stimulating interaction between staff of different offices.

The façades define each office, two smaller offices employ mostly glass, while the larger structures primarily use differing solid materials. The large offices use the same grid structure in their facades but variation in sequences, material and open/closed ratio’s creates a differing and defined look to each.
