IMTECH, Holland - Interior Design, Product Design
Brief: IMTECH, a multinational listed company providing technical services to the marine, telecoms, process, utilities and building services industries, asked us to create a cohesive corporate identity for the interiors of the broad array of offices and divisions that comprise IMTECH’s presence across the Netherlands.
Design: Working closely with the client at every stage of this project a joint vision was realized. To help the team articulate, define and unite their aspirations we used our specialized design decision process resulting in tailored mood boards.
We created a colour palette in bespoke shades of orange, yellow with greys, black and white. This palette runs easily through all IMTECH’s varying offices, creating a cohesive look and providing a light, bright and happy working environment. Using this colour palette we designed bespoke wall tapestries in wool felt for the reception areas and, complemented by our Cloud Tables, in the meeting rooms and canteen. Within the canteen area the colours were worked across the walls in broad striped sequences. We designed bespoke pendant lights to hang above the Cloud tables based on the Apollo capsule, making playful reference to the technical nature of IMTECH’s business. For the employees’ workspaces we developed desks with wool felt pin boards in the varying shades of the palette. This acted as a divider and softens the sound between desks, creating privacy within open plan spaces while encouraging each employee to personalize and actively engage with his or her workspace.
Within the offices we designed a variety of working environments, open and closed, creating a dynamic working space and enabling the employees interact with each other and within the space as they chose. To keep the space clutter-free and polished we developed pods to house all office support facilities from kitchen areas to photocopiers. These served to shield facilities from view, define and segment the floor space and, using the IMTECH palette, inject these office levels with bright blocks of colour.
